"Messy Stuff"
Today Rylan was taking a nap unusually early and Aubrey told me that she wanted to play with the "messy stuff". I asked her what messy stuff and she said, "the stuff that's in the bathroom." I showed her the can of shaving cream and asked her if that was it and she said, "yes, I want to rub it all over!" So, I put her at the table, squirted some on her hands and she went to town. She wrote her letters, drew some shapes and then did some abstract art and said it was a jungle! Of course, if you know Aubrey even a little bit, you know any kind of mess is going to end up all over her! So, she pretended she was Santa Claus, then just a man with a beard and mustache(or hairy lip as Mama Nise taught her)!!!

Apple Picking
Yesterday we went and picked some very yummy apples at a farm outside of Erie. It was a chilly but sunny day and the kids had lots of fun as usual!

Aubrey eating and posing.

Rylan making a break for it.

Rylan and Curtis walking through the orchard.

Aubrey helping Curtis pick our new favorite apples - Shizuka - they are super yummy, sweet, juicy and crisp, even if they are ugly to look at!

Rylan wanted to help to!

Aubrey is still eating her apple!

We all tried out the Shizuka and Rylan was the last one with it, he wouldn't let go of the apple until we finally took it away because all that was left was a little bit of the core!

Aubrey running to catch up with her friend Jeffrey who joined us with his family.

Hey, look, it's me! I actually got in a picture! :)

Karate Class
A couple of Aubrey's friends, Daniel and Matthew, are taking Karate. The place they attend was having a special this month, if you buy the uniform you get a month free. So we thought we would give it a try with Aubrey. We've been talking about starting her in something, but everything is soooo expensive and we just weren't sure if she would really like it. We thought this might be a good way to try it out without spending a whole lot of money, if she doesn't want to do it after the first month, then at least she has another dress-up outfit! :) The first week she just sat next to us and wouldn't even attempt to get on the mat. The 2nd week she did AWESOME!!! She listened, did what the teachers said, said "YES MAM!!!" (that's the southern girl in her! :) We were so proud of her and she said she had a lot of fun. When I asked her if she wanted to go again, she said, "No." So, I guess we'll just see what the next week brings!

Rylan loves to watch the big kids out there

Sitting with Daniel in their listening position.

It didn't last long! :)

Matthew, Daniel and Aubrey listening to Miss Robinson.

Get ready to hear Miss Robinson say "Chareot" - Korean for attention. When they hear her say that, they put their arms and legs together and say Yes Mam!

Playing a game with "Sam the snake". They have to jump over him while he's wiggling. The other lady is Miss Jones, she's the owner of the school, she has 5 kids and her youngest is in Aubrey's class.

Waiting her turn to jump over Sam.

KCC Returns - sort of
It's been sooooo long since we've had our Kids Craft Club - of course, we really can't call it that anymore since one of our members has moved to North Carolina, I guess we'll have to come up with another name! Anyway, we had the remaining members over this past Monday for play time, we thought about doing a craft, but decided to just play instead. It took some of them a little time to remember how to play nicely with each other, since it has been way to long, but I think all in all everyone had fun!

The gang playing with whatever they can find! Melaura, Maddie, Aubrey, Rylan, Aidan, Julia, Lisa and Caleb (our newest addition - Maddie & Aidan's little brother)

Aubrey thought we should feed the birds some popcorn we had left over from the day before.

Playing on the swingset, Julia, Rylan & Maddie and I think Aidan is hiding behind the red swing! The weather was absolutely perfect, our last warm day for the year I believe!

Aubrey and Maddie posing as usual!

Rylan loving the swing, especially since he has his blankie!

Julia, Aubrey, Maddie & Aidan - Maddie was such a good swing pusher - she made sure everyone had a turn!

Star Wars Sundays
Curtis has organized a group of the guys from church to play Star Wars Role Playing Games. They started last Sunday and are meeting every Sunday afternoon to play. I have actually had fun making lunch and snacks for them, I never really knew how much food 8 guys (6 of which are teenagers) could consume!!! So, if anyone has any easy, yummy recipes that make A LOT, please pass them along!!! They all have a blast with the game, it looks like this arrangement could be indefinitely! :)

Mark, the GAMEMASTER - all the guys are teamed up against him.

Tyler loving the popcorn!

We're missing 2 guys in these pictures - Dustin and Jordan - so I'll try to post some more next week! :)

Fall Train Ride
Last weekend we traveled to Titusville, PA which is about an hour from Erie to ride the train and see some beautiful scenery! It was a beautiful day! On our way there, Aubrey mentioned how sunny it was. And I said God has blessed us with a beautiful day to ride on the train and she said, "we should thank Him!"
On the train was also a postal car, we bought some postcards for our family, wrote a note on them and were able to mail them on the train. They had a postmark from the train, it was pretty neat!

Here is the train car that we rode in.
